UNA VISIÓN ESTADÍSTICA DEL CINE EN VENEZUELA (1980-1990)

“Una visión estadística del cine en Venezuela (1980-1990)” se presenta como el primer avance del programa de investigación Estadísticas venezolanas sobre el universo audiovisual, adelantado por la Dirección de Investigación de la Fundación Cinemateca Nacional. El documento que ahora presentamos ofrece una lectura comparativa de cifras sobre cine en Venezuela, específicamente aquellas relativas a la asistencia de espectadores, número de salas, películas exhibidas y su recaudación, películas venezolanas con mayor recaudación y su ubicación en el conjunto de las películas más taquilleras del país. Las fuentes de estos datos provienen de las publicaciones y los informes de la Dirección de Industria Cinematográfica del Ministerio de Fomento, una de las pocas instituciones que se ha empeñado en mantener una producción sistemática de estadísticas sobre el sector cinematográfico venezolano.

“A statistical vision of the film exhibition industry in Venezuela (1980-1990)” is introduced as the programe Venezuelan Statistics over the Audiovisual Universe by the Fundacion Cinemateca Nacional. This document offers a comparative reading of figures about national and international films in Venezuela, specifically those related to the attendance of the audience, number of cinema theaters, films screenings and theirs box-office collection, the Venezuelan films with the highest box-office collection and their location within the group of the most succesful box-office films in the country. The publications and reports previously prepared by the Cinematographic Industry Direction of the Ministry of Development constitute the sources for this data. This Direction is one of the few institutions engaged in keeping a systematic statistical production on the Venezuelan cinematographic sector.
