Transparency and Opaqueness in the cinema.
Considering that the analysis of the levels of transparency and opaqueness in the cinema implies, in the first place, determining the relation established by the producing instance vis-a-vis the same, to make it possible to establish some form of discourse, the author reviews the tools that the theory of the enunciation offers to observe the enunciated-discourse as the result obtained by the enunciation, capable of containing elements which refer to the producing instance of the text. Thus, observing the film as text or discourse, this theoretical problem is confronted by reviewing the hypotheses in relation to the sources of the discourse and its constituent aspects (generation and reception instances), following the approach of semiotics in general and of the semiology of the cinema in particular. Within this multidisciplinary framework enriched and determined by the contributions made in the science of narration and linguistics, the study is considered very useful as regards the regulation of the narrative information in the story. From the linguistic point of view, the categories of history/discourse and narration/commentary formulated by Emil Benveniste and Harold Weinrich respectively have made it possible to establish different systems of linguistic communication. This is how the importance and usefulness of these concepts are reviewed which, on the other hand, have been the basis of the study of the communicative trends in the cinema. Finally, with the object of establishing some parameters that throw light on the analysis of the categories mentioned, the models of representation and therefore of communication which the cinema has formed in its discursive practice are studied.
